This taller growing hair grass forms loose upright tussocks of green foliage that turns straw gold as the season progresses. Tufted spring foliage is followed by clouds of gold hair like flowers which survive right through until the winter months. Ideal in drifts in among lower growing grasses and herbaceous plants. Also good in a container or tub.
Deschampsia cespitosa - Cultivation Notes
Deswchampsia requires a neutral to acid soil in to shade or sun, making it an ideal low growing plant for shady areas, dappled shade or part sun. Avoid planting in very dry soils or overly wet heavy clays, preferring a humus rich damp soil soil type. Trim back every winter and mulch form time to time 30cm tall x 40cm spread.
